Lynn's family said she kicked the bucket on Tuesday at her home in Tennessee.

"Our valuable mother, Loretta Lynn, died calmly toward the beginning of today, October fourth, in her rest at home in her cherished farm in Tropical storm Factories," the family said in a proclamation.

They requested protection as they lament and said a commemoration would be declared later.

Humble starting points

The vocalist was conceived Loretta Webb in a one-room log lodge in Butcher Empty, Kentucky in 1932. She was the second of eight youngsters.
